Maurizio Caldirola Arte Contemporanea è lieta di ospitare Square, la mostra personale di Rolando Tessadri (Mezzo Lombardo,1968).
È nella dimensione ambigua della parola inglese square che si sviluppa il nuovo progetto espositivo di Rolando Tessadri. Un’operazione che – in linea con la programmazione della Galleria Caldirola – non si pone come semplice allestimento di opere ma propone un intervento di più ampio respiro in grado di farsi unità nello spazio, andando a legarsi strettamente con l’architettura dell’ambiente.
La parola square rimanda al quadrato, elemento primario della grammatica di Tessadri che utilizza la regolarità di questa forma per l’organizzazione dei suoi dipinti, relazionandosi con essa, sviluppandola e forzandola. Anche la cellula base dei suoi lavori, una tessitura illusoria realizzata a frottage, riprende la stessa forma, ripetuta in maniera ossessiva per animare come un ritmo percussivo e visivamente dinamico l’intera superficie del dipinto.
D’altro lato, la parola square allude alla piazza, al luogo pubblico di condivisione, a quello spazio di incontro dove fiorisce la comunità e in cui, come in un’agorà classica, si gioca l’intervento politico nella comunità attraverso il dibattito e la discussione.
L’aspirazione di questo intervento, che forza la pittura post-analitica di Rolando Tessadri per farle raggiungere la dimensione ambientale, è quella di eccedere i limiti del quadro, portando le tradizionali questioni di supporto, forma e colore nella dimensione pubblica dell’intervento espanso.
Senza che ne vengano negate autonomia e specificità, la pittura diventa mezzo per risaltare lo spazio che contiene e la vita che in esso può svilupparsi. Così facendo, sfruttando la naturale vocazione relazionale del quadro-oggetto, l’ambiente diventa campo di potenzialità in cui la dimensione verticale della parete e quella orizzontale dell’ambiente percorribile si combinano per dare luogo a un territorio di relazione.

Rolando Tessadri’s new exhibition project is a development of the ambiguity of the English word square. It is an operation that – in line with the programming of the Caldirola gallery’s exhibitions – is not simply the installation of a show but, instead, the proposal of a wide-ranging intervention that can create a unity with the gallery space by closely connecting with its architecture.
The square is a primary element of Tessadri’s grammar, and he uses the regularity of this form for the organisation of his paintings, relating to it, and developing and pushing it to its limits. The cellular basis of his work, an illusory weave created with a frottage technique, also reuses the same form, which is repeated obsessively in order to animate, with a percussive and visually dynamic rhythm, the whole surface of the painting.
On the other hand, the word square alludes to piazzas, a public space for sharing, the meeting place where the community flourishes and in which, as in the classical agora, there is played out the political actions of the community by way of debates and discussions.
The aim of this intervention, one that forces the post-analytical painting by Rolando Tessadri to reach an environmental dimension, is to go beyond the limits of paintings and to bring the traditional problems of support, form, and colour into the public dimension of an enlarged activity. Without its autonomy and specificity being denied, painting becomes the means for highlighting the space that it contains and the life that can develop within it. In this way, by exploiting the natural relational vocation of the painting/object, the setting becomes a field of action for potentialities in which the vertical dimension of the walls and the horizontal one of the accessible room space combine to give rise to a territory for relating together.

Rolando Tessadri was born in 1968. He lives and works in Salorno in the province of Bolzano. Having followed courses in applied art at the Trento art institute, he studied for a degree in the conservation of the cultural heritage at Udine University. From the mid-1990s, he has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows, among which those at the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Venice (1996), and at the Spazio Hajech, “Menotrenta”, Milan (1997). In 2001 he participated in the “Premio Accademia Nazionale di San Luca” competition in Rome. In 2003 he exhibited at MART, Rovereto, in the group show “Situazioni-Trentinoarte 2003”, and in 2008 at the Spazio SASS, Trento, in “Formato Arte-Capolinea Underground”. In 2013 his work was to be seen in the rooms of Casa Gallo, Vicenza, in a solo show. In 2015 he took part in “Supernove” at MAG, Riva del Garda; in 2016 he was to be seen at Villa Salvadori-Zanatta, Meano (province of Trento) in the show “L’angolo bello: Gianni Pellegrini – Rolando Tessadri”.
